Mouse frozen after playing Final Fantasy XI

I use my gamepad and keyboard to play FFXI online. After about an hour or so of playing my mouse has become frozen, both in game and in Windows. I have to uninstall and reinstall my mouse from the device manager to get it working again. As far as I know I don't have any power management turned on either. How can I fix this?

No not really. It works the same as any other corded optical mouse.
