i have 256 mb of ram and i want to add an extra 512 stick but how do i know that its not too powerful for my motherboard, would that fry it? is there a way 2 find out:huh:

Either you board will take it or not. No frying involved. It's either Yes or No. Check you manual to see what it can take.

its possible you may have to flash the BIOS before the 512 will work.

do you happen to know what motherboard you have, or at least brand or type? what type of memory it uses? what kind of processor do you have?

sorry about late reply not had time to visit site.

the SiS730 chipset allows up to 1.5gb of memory. this means you can have up to three 512mb sticks installed. that would be maxing it out. go ahead with the upgrade. :)

Just an additional note, if your mobo only supports lets say PC2100 and you install PC3200 the memory will still work but it will only run at the PC2100 speed.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
