Monitor Specs

cinema screens are wider and sometimes narrower or taller than 16:9 tv's hence the black bands even on them for most films.

Yes, it's often indie films or movies that want to evoke a 'documentary' feel that use 16:9, the vast majority are narrower than that with ratios such as 2.35:1.

Most of the tier-1 manufacturers have better circuitry, less chatter/noise, better quality components, better quality and usually larger number of ports and typically a better quality stand. The panels themselves do not deviate THAT much although the tier-1 brands tend to have much better controls and therefore they top benchmarks for uniformity of color/brightness/contrast et al.

Hanns is not a tier-1 manufacturer but it will typically do well due to the pricing. Displays like the 27" Dell display have much higher quality finish and typically more ports. Also, the warranty is typically better.

Regarding comparo's... www.google.com is your friend.

I just read a couple reviews of the Hanns monitor and it's not what I am looking for really, the quality isn't there, and the features aren't really there. Now I would love to get a monitor that size for that price, but I don't think it's worth.

I need enough ports, I need DVI connections, and with the quality of image i get with this Samsung I don't think I would be happy with it. Now what to choose. hmm

I would say this one thing: If you are worried about quality... go with a DELL monitor, if something happens or if your monitor comes in with more than 1-2 burnt out pixels Dell will make it right...

My 24 has been running for 3 years straight with no issues...

Cheers!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
