My Samsung SyncMaster 735dfx monitor has a slight flicker on the left side. I can reduce this by increasing the refresh rate to 100 hertz. The Monitor Handbook recommends 85 hertz, is changing it to 100 hertz likely to cause any damage?

Well mine only is allowed to a maximum of 75, when i try to go above this, I get a black screen with in red, 'out of bound', it then readjusts itself back to best setting (75).
Try changing colours to 16 bit first and move the accelerated graphics bar down one peg first.

Running higher than the recommended refresh rate will shorten the life of the monitor.
