Modem Woes

I wonder if anyone can help me with this one.

I got a Swann Speed Demon Modem.

The type of modem shouldn't really matter (i hope) but essentially, if the modem isn't on when i boot up, i can't use it. It works fine if the modem is on while booting. I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this?

Can i make my modem work whether its on when i boot up or not? Slight niggle but would be great if it can be fixed.

i was having excatly the same problem wiht my creative modem blaster external serial modem, i couldent find out why it was doign this. it could be a bug in xp with all serial modems
