Modem too old??

I connect to the Internet with a V 90 modem, but XP doesn't seem to like my modem...even if it's turned on when i boot my pc, I have to "Scan for hardware changes" to find my modem...then XP finds it properly, but...do I really have to do this every time???
My modem is a Supra Express 56e V 90, about two years old.

Have you checked the modems manufacturer site for the latest drivers for XP ?

If not try them..

First remove any instance of the modem in device manager , reboot and let XP detect the modem, then force XP to use the NEW drivers .
