missing hard drive space

I GOT A WIERD PROBLEM ON 2 OF MY SLAVE DRIVES
ONE OF THE DRIVES IS 74 GIGS IN SIZE
I HAVE ONE FOLDER ON THERE THAT TOTALS TO ABOUT 47.1 GIG
FREE SPACE ON THE DRIVE 11.8 GIG
CANT UNDERSTAND WHERE THE MISSING GIGS HAVE GONE
OTHER DRIVE IS 60 GIG IN TOTAL AND SIMILAR SORT OF PROBLEM
ANY IDEAS WOULD BE MUCHO APPRECIATED

ok first off calm down on the all caps!

Next, have you checked under disk management to see what size each partition is? and did you do a clean install of XP or an upgrade?

got some gigs back

i turned off system restore monitoring on both my 2nd drives seems to of reclaimed a lot of the space though not all of it
i did a clean install of xp but ive had these 2 drives for a while now
i keep all my important stuff on these drives in case of system crash
