I am sick and tired of these annoying popups. "messenger Service" is the title directly under teh top of the window that pops up. The ads try to sell me everything from human growth hormone to even advertising how to stop the annoying popups. I am assuming that MSN Messenger, my chat program, has something to do with this. Is there anyway to get rid of the ads? I have installed SpySweeper and Adaware, but they failed to identify the source of these popups. Could someone please help?

I saw this in another thread. go to Start/Run and type in services.msc

then scroll down to where it says Messenger and disable that. THis won't disable MSN Messenger just the net send thing that sends those messages.

Here is the registry hack to stop the messages.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Messenger]

"Start"=dword:00000004

Right click on "My Computer" (this is assuming that you have XP or 2000) select "Manage."
"Services and Applications", "Services" Find the "Messenger" service.
Right click on it and select "Properties" Set "Startup type" to "Disabled"
"Stop" the service.

Oruse a program called Xp-Antispy which includes a number of security/privacey protections.

Just do a search on google for it its freeware :)

Thank you very much guys. I appreciate your help

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
