Does MS recommends the memory usuage for Vista to run it smoothly with a DVD burner application running ?

Not sure what you mean bud.

I recommend having 2 GB in your system to run Vista nice and smooth :)

Even with a DVD burner running.

Vista does a great job of memory management so you should be fine with 2 GB to provide "coverage" for all items

or if like me you cant afford more mem stick a usb key in the back and use it as mem :)

It doesn't offer much by way of improvement. It also runs a lot slower for most things than both system memory and hard-drives.

Note that memory prices for systems is relatively low for most all types of memory :)

1 gig minimum for smooth operation.

2 Gig is generally recommended for VISTA, but a friend just picked up a cheap laptop, added a 1 gig stick for a total of 1.5 gig and he says it's running great.

Generally the burner software will maintain a ram buffer to prevent problems but if you demand too much for the cpu you have it can drain the buffer and make a platter.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
