memory problem

I used to be able to do everything fine.... now i have trouble opening 5 programs... its not my memory because i have 256 DDR ram pc2100 and i usually have at least 128k to spare... i have tried almost everything.. can anyone give me any ideas?

It sounds like something running in the background is giving you grief. Try shutting things off and testing your programs. I know for myself I have to be real careful what I launch when I have my ATI TV program running - VERY temperamental and will crash easy (usually while trying to launch an older program).
