Media player problems

When I play divx or mpg movies my system locks up and I have to cold boot.
I do have the latest drivers and codecs

Have amd 800
256 ram

I have had horrible results in playing movie files with Media Player. I just hate the program in general.

For movies, try the playa - at http://www.divx.com.

Then do a search for a program called nimo codec. It was on the divx.com website for a bit. May still be there. Install Divx Playa first then install the nimo codec. Should be able to run movies fine.

An even better program would be Power DVD.
