Media Player Classic

I have been looking for the download for this but everyone I find is a self contained version. Is there a version that you actually install?

As far as I know, only CCCP lets you "install" Media Player Classic. And I'm not even including all the other extra (bloat-free) features CCCP comes with.
Both original and Home Cinemia version are standalones.

hah.. why do u want to install it, man?

I don't know, I am used to installing things, makes me feel like its official or something lol

And I need MPC because it seems to be the only one that plays HD files that are coded with DSP

High definition? What's DSP? I'm searching for that but I get irrelevant results. If it's a common video file use CCCP. It's one of the best bloat-free codec and player packs out there... unlike that illegal and obscene K-Lite. :dead: TO K-LITE!!

Sorry I meant DTS, which is a sound codec that I have found many .mkv files are encoded with.

cccp and klite suck monkey balls - get ffdshow-tryouts, that and mpc and you can play anything

Yea the past couple weeks I have gone from VLC only, to GOM player, and now might have to only use MPC. Which I am quite surprised with, just wish I could install it lol

That is what I have yes, my only original question for this thread was if there was an installation version of it, which there is not...so it turned into a different kind of thread lol

I'm more used to H.264/AVC but sure...
CCCP should be able to play it, if it's a common format.

ffdshow included within CCCP. At least it's complete bloat-free. Unlike K-Lite. K-Lite is...:dead::dead::dead::dead::dead::dead:
VLC sucks. As does IE6-8+.

I still have to say that VLC does NOT suck. I have never had a problem with it, well at least in terms of video I have not. VLC seems to have enough sound issues, but thats it.

Are you serious? It completely screwed up the file extensions, and the choice of associating the media files were NOT given. It was automatic. That was an automatic B- from me.
Not only that it screws up softsubs. It plays ALL of the embedded ones, you need to manually select one stream then it plays fine. It's been 3 different releases and it has to fix that problem. Considering that I watch anime (no, it's not porn, damn it) with lots 3-4 different tracks that just pissed me off. And VLC's uninstall was the messiest thing ever next to a Paperport uninstallation.
MPlayer owns VLC.

they use an older version yes, you don't really need anything more than ffdshow, it plays 1920x1080 mkv hd rips i have here no problems

just get the regular mpc and u can add it to right click, open with... (u need to do it manually tho)

btw, im not sure it plays dts audio straight ahead... u're prolly gonna need ac3filter

ffdshow does nothing for subtitles if you have no media splitter. Which is why Haali's Media Splitter is awesome.
And all of K-Lite's versions, both Standard (shudder) and Full (pass out) are so full of bloat, conflicting splitters and filters, illegal copyrighted files, and files prohibited from distribution, are so bad. It makes me wonder why it's even that popular. Too confusing for noobs, and people who actually know what they're doing will want to install everything individually.
And the noobs that end up installing what's recommended... No. Just... no.
VLC's older version has this subtitle exploit.

It seemed to play it out of the box, though I might have ac3filter installed from another time for something else, either way its good to go.

if you have mpc and ffdshow all you have to do is tick the box for subs and it will work, as the newer versions mpc have internal splitters for all that

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
