I have a HP-Compaq nx5000 laptop (Intel Pentium M 1.3 GHz, 512 MB RAM, Intel 855 GM Chipset)
I reinstalled Windows recently and I have an unknown device called the Mass Storage Controller. I am unable to find drivers for it. I installed the latest Intel Chipset drivers and USB2.0 drivers but I still get the Unknown device. Normally it wouldnt bother me, but it has significantly slowed down access to my USB hard disk.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks :)

I was looking at the specs for your laptop and it says it has a firewire controler maby this is your problem or the card reader.

"Secure digital (SD) slot - USB 2.0 (2), IEEE-1394"

Check to see if there is a 'Utility CD' that should have came with the machine. It should contain all the neccessary drivers for all the components for that particular machine.

Yes I have the utility CD and I installed all the drivers from there ( I am using XPSP2 by the way )

It used to work fine, but I formatted yesterday because it was getting a little sluggish and now it doesnt work.
