Making a apache server

What's there to talk about? It's funny to learn, you are never out of resources (disc space), you can upgrade whenever you want and you even redirect a domain name to it. One major downside is still security. You need a good firewall, else you'll be flooded and your connection blocked etc. This has happened to me several times and luckily the manufacturer of my router brought out a new firmware with upgrades to the hardware firewall. That has saved me many times.

Fun OS X Feature: To get apache up and running, all you need to do is tick a box. no arsing about with configs ;)

glaanie's right though, setup a good firewall, don't want outside connections to it (or do you? o_0)

What's the fun in that? :p

No, this is just on my computer, Type this in on another computer: http://localhost/ and you'll proably get nothing! But on my comp you'll see a Apache server test page.

wow, its the loopback interface.

127.0.0.1 was origionally created to test the loopback interface, after that people decided that binding local services was a good idea, and that is how the name localhost, or localhost.localdomain came about.

Any of the SP crew still out there?
