I was tinkering with the icon's tab in the xp powertoys tweakui, and when i was changing the shortcut overlay around it made my icons look like they were being rendered with far fewer colors, including those in the quick launch. I was running my desktop at 16bit (when i was trying this out), and now then only way i can make the icons look rihgt again is to run it on 32bit. I've tried rebooting and using the "Repair icons" option in tweakui, but it hasn't helped.

Does anyone know what might be going on?

Are you now using a custom overlay or did you try setting everything back to normal? could be your overlay for some reason couldn't be displayed at 16 bit.

Piett, you need to go into your registry under HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Desktop/WindowsMetrics and change the Shell Icon BPP to value of 16. Restart and that should do it.

thanks MuffDiver, that did the trick perfectly.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
