Lost desktop/toolbar

I am running WinXp. My desktop and explorer bar has vanished. The only thing that is on my screen is my wallpaper. I went into control panel and clicked on taskbar and it does notheing. I have folders that open on start up and that is how I can access my folders. If I log in another name everything works fine. I would just use another account but I would lose all my bookmarks and settings. Can anyone tell me how to repair my desktop and toolbar. I would be very thankfull for any help.

Try desktop properties...right click on any empty space on the desktop>>>properties>>>desktop tab>>>customize.

or you could try and do a System Restore...
