Losing Network Connection with XP

I recently set up a wireless network with XP Pro.

Both my PC's were running XP and were linked by Netgear MA111 wirless connectors.

All was good for a while but now the connection dissapears and I cant use my internet connection or access files through the other PC.

The wireless bits are working fine as they come up with a good connection etc, its just that they wont share any data??

How can I fix this???

connection disappears... so you have it, then you don't? when you lose it, how do you get it back? ipconfig /renew, or do you need to reboot?

It would come back sometimes with a re boot of the PC connected to the Net.
But now it does not.

I have just pulled out the wireless nodes.(and thrown them in the bin)

I now have a host connected to the net via cable modem - -connected to a switch -- connected to a client via network card.

Still no internet on the client.
they identify each other but the internet gateway is not showing on the client?

Try running through this guide to get it going:

If you are using a switch, you must have ICS up and running in order for the other PC to get online.

If you are using a router, the router can issue separate internal IP addresses to both systems.

nup, didn't work. That's pretty much what I've been doing over and over again.

From the Host I can ping the client, but not vice versa? a bit weird???

Can you post the 'ipconfig /all' results here from both machines. It'll give us a better idea on whats going on.

Do you have any firewalls running also?
