I need the assistance of you geniuses!
Here is the order of events:
1) Installed Burn&Go CD labeling software.
2) XP told me that the program had overwritten
some windows files and asked me to insert the
XP CD, so it could repair them.
3) I insert the CD and clicked Retry. The message
box closed, but I didn't really hear the CD fire up.
(I figured it only needed a couple of files and that
it fixed them in a hurry).
4) I used the Burn&Go software to make a CD label.
(no problems at all).
5. I decided to clean up shop a bit, and using a tip
I had read, I removed most of my XP restore points.
I then decided to create a new restore point, but
XP told me it couldn't create one, and that I should
reboot and try again.
6. I rebooted and everything seemed to be working until
the last of, what ever programs load during start up,
finished loading. At that point, the mouse froze and
the keyboard stopped working too.
7. At one point, I was able to get the keyboard back,
so I had XP revert back to the only saved point I had,
but after it reverted I lost both the keyboard and the
mouse again, and that's where I am at this point.
Safemode works, but doesn't help me, because the problem
stems from something that is being loaded on my account.
Recovery console doesn't help at all.
Is there some way I can have XP attempt an automatic repair,
kind of like what it attempted to do after the program overwrote
the files? Or does anyone know of another fix?
Kinda tough to fix things without any input devices.
Thanks!
