Is there any way that I can set my nephew's PC up via a 3rd party app or something that will restrict logon hours on XP Home? I look after my sister in law's PC for them and, at the moment, use an app called Sleepy to boot them off at 11pm. Problem is the little git has found that if you log on you get 5 minutes before it boots you off again so is now doing this. Ideally I would like to set it up so he gets booted off and XP will not let him back on. He has got a limited account so he can't access Sleepy etc. to alter things.

TIA

Yes.

You can use "net user" from the command prompt to restrict logon hours per user.

/times:{times | all}
Is the logon hours. The times option is expressed as day[-day][,day[-day]],time[-time][,time [-time]], and is limited to 1-hour increments. Days can be spelled out or abbreviated. Hours can be 12-hour or 24-hour notation. For 12-hour notation, use am, pm, a.m., or p.m. The all option specifies that a user can always log on, and a blank value specifies that a user can never log on. Separate day and time entries with a comma, and separate multiple day and time entries with a semicolon.

Thanks for that. Not a wizard with command line stuff so do I just type this in at a command prompt or do I need to save it as a logon script and add it to his profile somewhere?

One time only, type the desired times in command prompt as detailed above and on the linked pages.

Windows will then save the details and you don't need to do anything else.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
