Just a quick question, Carpo.

Lighttpd or Apache, your opinion.

Which one is safer out of the box?

This is for my debian setup.

Heeter

both as as safe as you make them, according to what i have been told lighttpd uses less in resources, apache runs under nouser and nogrp i believe, lighttpd runs under www

either runs under whatever user you tell them.

Apache is easier for php support, lighttpd has advantages though :)

Nginx is also pretty interesting, I've not setup a PHP FastCGI for it yet but then I've only just started playing.

Draw from the experiences of what people who run much busier sites than many will ever run ... use the strengths of both. For example, Apache for front-end processing and have lighttpd behind the scenes streaming media, pictures, thumbnails, etc. I believe that is what Youtube does, at least for thumbnails from articles I've read in the past. Of course you can run completely off lighttpd if it provides all the features you need. I believe Pirate Bay, one of the largest trackers in the world uses lighttpd.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
