I'm running XP Home atm and i was wondering if anyone knows how i can display chinese characters etc?

I know it can be done in XP cause a friend of mine has chinese characters showing correctly in Winamp (not the usual random ascii characters)

That and i have a few chinese programs which display the characters as random ascii.

I tried the Help file that comes with XP and to no avail. (and no my friend can't remember how he did it)

Anyone?

I'm not so sure whether Windows XP Home Edition supports for Mmultiple-language installations but Windows XP does. Anyway, just try and see how.

To display non-Unicode programs in their native language
You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings may also prevent you from completing this procedure.

Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, under Language for non-Unicode programs, click the language version of non-Unicode programs that will be used(Chinese PRC).

Restart the computer, then anything is just fine.

oh bah

It displays the characters but now winamp won't play the song :( I've installed the language packs for winamp but to no avail

Thanks for the help though =)

If anyone knows how to solve this little niggling problem help would be appreciated =)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
