Lame and eac work awesomely together. DBPoweramp is another good one that works well with lame.

Believe it does, not sure if it's frowned on though.

Oh and not sure if you need it or not but this is one of the best guides for setting up EAC for secure rips around.

I do, but i need mp3 for ipod

-6 -V -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" -T comment="%e" -T "comment=EAC (Secure Mode)" %s

is what i use for flac

-V 2 --vbr-new * --ignore-tag-errors --add-id3v2 --pad-id3v2 --ta "%a" --tt "%t" --tg "%m" --tl "%g" --ty "%y" --tn "%n"

is what i use for mp3

* you can also put --present standard here instead, both should give you a vbr mp3

That is usually what I do. Convert to flac for pc, then convert the flac to mp3 for ipod. I think I heard somewhere that the new version of Ipod is going to support flac. Whether that is true or not, I don't know, as iTunes is still refusing to support it ...

going okay so far under wine might see if i can get it to use native Linux versions of flac and lame next
