Well, I finally decided to go ahead and purchase an XServe G5 to replace my XServe G4. I've had my XServe G4 for about 2 years now and since I purchased a plan to where I can purchase a new one for a discount after 2 years, I decided to go for it.
Specs:
Single 2 GHz G5
2 GB RAM
2 x 250GB HD's
Mac OS X Panther Server w/ Unlimited Client License
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
My current XServe is used for realtime recording of my survellience system. I'm going to use this one to take over it's responsibilities and also do Tivo-like recordings that I will be able to view from any TV in my home that has a media center PC attached (currently, just my living room).
Can't wait to get it. It's supposed to be the same size (the XServe G4 is thin as far is width is concerned, but it's longer than a standard server), but we'll see.
