Could any one tell me if there is a fix for this problem:

I have XP Home, 128 meg ram 40gig hdd

apart from buying more ram.

when i bootup at the start of the day it takes well over 5 minutes from the time i press the power button till i can use my comp, i only have about 5 gig of free space, I have done a defragi will buy more ram soon, but i only get a small amount of sparecash as i'm on a benifit :) .

So i was wondering if anyone would know the answer to my Question,

Have a look in msconfig (Start > Run > msconfig) and see if there is anything starting up that shouldn't be. Also check the event viewer.

Buy more RAM. I know you didnt want to hear that, but anything less than 256 (512 prefered) and XP won't run well.

Give this a go too>

Correcting System Hang at Startup

If your system hangs about 2 or 3 minutes at startup, where you can't access the Start button or the Taskbar, it may be due to one specific service (Background Intelligent Transfer) running in the background. Microsoft put out a patch for this but
it didn't work for me. Here's what you do:

1. Go to the control panel/admin tools/.
2. Go to the 'Services' tab, find the 'Background Intelligent Transfer' service, disable it, apply the changes & reboot.

Also if not on a network disable 'workstation' at the same place as above.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
