JAVA, CMD help

i am using Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition Version 1.4.0

this command will nto work "javac"

'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

any1 know why i recieve this error?

OS: Windows XP.

JAVATM DEVELOPMENT KIT
Version 1.1.8_009
for Microsoft Windows

You probably have to add the java bin folders to your path variable. You can do that in AutoExec.bat.
