I've decided I can't make my own sig

this is my first logo with Adobe photoshop 7.0 what do you think, any tips or pointers?

the colors dont balance well. Also for a sig its very small but thats fine. 500 by 200 size of 70 max is the forum spec. Amp it up. Not bad for a first time.

Umm, i cant seem to, get like a picture in the background, can anyone help. i can only set the color then altar it, such as cloudy like i did on the green sig. im using Adobe Photoshop 7.0, thanks for all your help
