On another Forum I post on, someone recommended turning off Windows Update, saying that it is a big SECURITY HOLE. Does anyone have proof it's not?

Asking for proof of not is somthing hard to do...

do you have proof that you didn't sleep with my girlfriend!!!! well..do ya!!!

I personally don't know of any security issues with windows update, I mean unless someone wrote a trojan or virus to redirect where the updates were coming from and such. So the bigger question lies in does anyone have any specific examples how it is a security hole?

Haven't heard this before. Turn it off and just update manually if you are concerned with it.

Yea, she pulled a Bobitt on me!

Some people worry too much.

The only time it is a security risk is when the updates that are downloaded open up other vulnerabilities like the recent IE security patch has done.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
