Am I right in thinking that GTA3 is a d3d based game? I'm pretty sure it is. That would mean I could use the built-in refresh rate fix on the detonators as thats only for d3d isnt it? (its part of the d3d bit on the driver control panel). I'm gonna try 1280x1024 tonight. Should I put trails on or off? What do they do exactly?

Q3 runs amazing - I never realised how much easier the game is at 125fps... against most people's thinking you dont need more than 60fps, 125fps makes a HUGE difference... especially as I used to cap at 76. I run with vsync off, and it runs really smooth with no image tearing (I've always had good luck with vsync off).

Well, I've downloaded the 44.67 driver set which is raved about in the nvidia driver thread and I'm gonna try them tonight - I'll post back with my results lol

the 60 should stand as the lowest minimum fps

if you can hit 60 constantly w/o dropping below it you should still be fine... the 125 and what not you hit constantly ensures you have more fluidity in on screen display than if it was topping @ 60hz

anyways congrats again...

I am gonna format my system again... installed some funky app thats buggering up my games (I can't play ET @ anything but 800x600 )

not the drivers for the card since I was playing @ 1600x1200 all this time...

but anyways...

I realised I hadnt yet installed dx9 so I've just put that on - will see if that makes any difference. Was playing gta3 earlier at 1280x1024 with trails an everything on - viewing distance was on full too - it looks awesome

Anyway, bath then 44.67 driver testing

as far as i can tell, trails in gta3 are just to help the game look more fluid if you're getting low fps. i would turn them off if you have a decent setup as it's just adding an artificial 'smear' effect. maybe it's there to make it appear more movie-like.

I think trails are better to have on better computers, as I had to have them off on my 2mx to make it run the best, but I can have them on with the ti4200... weird - not sure what they are though.

yah the trails are just eye candy.. I prefer it without the trails though on occasion in some chase sequences it does look bloody kewl
