Each time I enter a blank CD into my drive I get the following message

E:\is not accessible

Incorrect function.

I am running XP Professional V 5.1

Can anyone help please?

Try unistalling the IDE channel that the drive is on from Device Manager and reboot. Let Windows find the drive again.

Also make sure that the IDE cable is not damaged.

I have tried what you suggested, including changing the cable, but I am still getting the message. My motherboard is an Asus A7NX8-E Deluxe.

On the control panel, Device Manager, under IDE/ATA/ATAPI controllers, I see NVIDIA nForce2 ATA Controller.

On the secondary channel tab see attached

Uninstall the NVIDIA IDE drivers and reboot. That should reload the MS IDE drivers. See what happens then.

Just out of curiosity... do you have another cd drive you could try to make sure that the one you have is not dead?

check the drive properties to see if DLA is active?
(turn off if it is)

When the system attempts to re-install NVIDIA nForce2 ATA Controller, it displays The file nvatabus.sys on SRCDATA is needed?:dead:

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
