is an athlon 1.8 GHz or a celeron 2.0 GHz better?

And as long as you know that an amd 1800ghz is not called xp 1800 if there is such a thing.

there is such a thing :)

1.8ghz athlon is not an 1800+ but rather a 2200+

amd performance rating...

Slowly getting my way around this amd thing. Took me about three reads to get that.

both a 1.8ghz athlon and athlon xp 1800+ are quite a bit faster than a celeron 2ghz.

I ran pcmark2002 the other day. My 2200+ beat a 2.5pentium in the comparison chart. However a 1900+ beat me out on the same chart for some reason. Go figure.

the setups do matter...

I work on a 2200+ and a 2.4 ghz intel side by side @ work and trust me... there is no comparison...

sure you can oc and what not but for office use @ stock speeds... amd has better iq for the apps we use..

You really can't compare an Athlon XP to a Celeron, come on! :p

The Athlon is definitely a better option. The L2 cache plays a big role there. My Pentium III outperforms Celerons with higher clock speeds. ;)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
