ipod songs from other computers

Trying to figure out how to add songs to my ipod from a computer other than the one where I have my itunes library based. I copied songs onto the portable ipod, but when I connect to my computer, the ipod icon in "My Computer" appears, but before I can look at what is inside for very long, the box closes out and the icon disappears. I know the songs are in there because I see them before it disappears. They are not in my itunes library and I cannot find them anywhere on my computer.

itunes wont let you, becuase of copy rights etc, use ephpod

It's actually ehpod, and thanks for the info. I don't mind hacking my phone, but I think I'm gonna hold off on hacking the ipod. I will just burn to mp3 and transfer the songs to my computer.
