internet slows down when downloading a file

why does my internet go down, whne i like want to download a demo of a game or somthing

like it'll take forever to a load a page

because you are cutting down your bandwidth that the explorer can use - imagine the interent connection as a water faucet - it only pumpus out 50 gals/min - now if you are filling a bucket with 40 gal/min of water that leaves you with 10/gals per min to do whatever else with...
