intel webcam problem

my intel webcam won't work with xp. I've downloades the latest drivers etc. but when i double click on cam in explorer, the prog stops responding, or if I run MSN netmeeting, it sometimes comes to life, but stops responding after several seconds - any ideas?

is it usb?
if so y not try a diff port....

yes it is USB, and plugged into a 4 port hub. I will try direct conn to spare PC port and see if this makes any difference. thanx for the advice.
