"Intel Application Accelerator: ---> Should I install it?

Hi All,

When I purchased my Abit IT7-MAX2 MoBo, on its drivers CD, it contains an application named: "Intel Application Accelerator”.

Should I install this application? According to Abit’s own Tech Support, I should NOT. But then again I was reading the Intel’s i845 Spec Sheets the other day and it states:

"Intel Application Accelerator improves system performance by improving I/O transfer rates and enables faster times resulting in accelerated boot times.”

Your insights and assistance are greatly appreciated.

Why do Abit put it on the CD, if they don't want you to install it ?

ZAnwar, It's probably bundled with all the other Proggies on the CD cause it has to. Agreement with Intel on Bundling it's software with the MoBo.

Cannibal Corpse, if A-Bit says not to, then I would listen to them. There may be a problem with it or it's buggy. Or they (Tech Support) feel that it doesn't really help.

If your System is running fine and all your File transfers are smooth and fast enough for you then leave it alone. (I would leave it alone... But that's me.)

They put it on the CD for Win9x and Win2000 users. It gives pretty good performance improvements with those OSes but XP seems to be well optimized enough to show little or no gains with IAA.

The general consensus is to not install IAA with WinXP.

just be careful cuz i installed all the programs for my msi motherboard thinking thatll be wise (bearing in mind i was a newbie then) i installed the award bios proggie and updated my bios in windows (trust me not good) it said settings changed reboot so i did and i blew me bios didnt post and beeped. the meaning of this story is if it says bios on it leave it alone.

I've never had trouble flashing the bios from windows. Done it three times. I am also using the IAA but if your board manufacturer syas don't then it would be wise to listen to them.

i'm running IAA on my xp and it certainly perform better than without IAA. Since they(Abit) told you SHOULD NOT then its better to leave it alone.
