Installing xp

I am planning to completely format my harddirve and install winxp pro. I am currently running xp pro and have no startup disks,just my installation cd. I only know the basics of using computers so could someone please give me an idiots give to formatting and installing xppro. And do i need anyother software.

just boot from your xp cd and you will be fine. The cd will give you all the option you need to format you pc and reinstall xp.

As for not having startup disks... your system should support booting from the CDROM you have.

You dont need other software for the installation of Windows itself... but you may need drivers for your hardware (depending on the age of the hardware depends on whether XP will support them automatically or not). You'll also need the software installation cds for the other software you use on the system such as Microsoft Office etc
