Hello,

i would like to know if foratting my hard drive and installing windows is as good and stable as formatting and installing from acronis image that has windows installed already, but no other programs.

thankyou :)

Yes, as long as you're restoring the Acronis image on the same machine that the backup was made on, of course.

I prefer using images actually. Restoring an image is faster than reinstalling Windows, and you don't have to re-activate your copy if it was already activated before you made the backup. :)

thanks netryder :)

do i need to format first before i restore from the image?

Not necessary. You can just boot from the TrueImage recovery CD and restore the image to the existing partition.

Like netryder said: All you have to do is run the image restore and it will do all you need ..

Create regular backups using Acronis is good. When you restore, you start from where you last saved.... a bit like saving your progress when playing games really. :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
