Install / Uninstall Problems

My computer has recently developped problems while running installations and uninstallations. It starts whatever it's got to do and then just stops and the the program stops responding. Even spybot can't update (I am assuming this is a related problem).

Any know what could cause this to suddenly start happening?

virus, adware, spyware, user caused configuration issues.... many things. Any entries in your event viewer?
