increase internet speed

im using a local isp here in miami and for some reason my adsl connection will not go faster than 10mbps is there a reason why that is like is it something in xp causing that or what and if anyone is from my area id love to know and if their using the same service maybe they can tell me what kind of speed theyve got going on their connections through bellsouth as well maybe ive done something wrong or installed something wrong

adsl is capable of more than 10mbps?

as far as i know its only capable of 8mbps, and possibly that 10 mbps is the connection between your computer and the router.

Your getting 10mbps on ADSL? well that would be categorized VDSL..and what are you like 10 feet from the CO?

Wish I could get even 1/4 of that.

Here in the Philippines with a 256K line, we are lucky to get 180+kbps and on a good day, which isn't often, can crack it for a 207kkbs.

Do you use a 100 mbit network card to get more than 10 mbit?

I just did a lil lookin around and most DSL modems don't even have a 100mbps wan port which means the fastest that could ever be achieved is 10mbps anyway
