I have a friend that had win 98 on her computer and she exported her address book to a cd and she saved it as The Microsoft exchange Address book instead of the Text file (CSV) when she goes to import it, it cant find it? She did a fresh install of win 2000, but I don't think she did any of the sp's or updates yet. Any thoughts?

is she using the microsoft outlook import/export function?

File/import/other address book instead of file/import/address book.

Microsoft exchange Address book will be in the list of other address book listings.

We tried that still doesn't show up. What would happen if she did not highlight one or the other When she exported?

Where is the file you are trying to import?

Edit: I see the file was saved to a cd so it may have read only attribute. Right-click on the file choose properties and if it has a checkmark in read only then remove it, click apply then ok.
Then try to import it into OE.

she will have to copy the file to the harddrive first before she can click off read only as you can't change a file on a CD, if all else fails you can e-mail me the file and i'll change it to CSV or pst and send it back

Whats the exact file she should send you, It also looks like she saved her whole OE Folder.

oh i see what she's done now, ok this should work, if she hasn't got any info in OE now if so first export it to a csv file. then go here in OE tools/options/maintenance then click on store folder, this is where all the OE stuff is, copy the whole address, then paste that info in a windows folder to open the oe folder (make sure you have exported all the files here before hand from within oe), then paste all her old files and folders into this folder it should overright everything and when you open up oe again you should find all the old addresses and e-mails etc... let me know if this works, i've done it a few times and its worked fine. if you can't do this then just zip up all the files and folders she has and e-mail them to me at ldollard@verizon.net as long as the file is under 10mb it'll go through and i'll send it back in a csv format.

Thanks

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
