I would like to die before I felt the pain, or feel the pain just before I die (if you’re into that sort of thing). Or have been happy once or even twice, as then I just wouldn’t care. You start out in life with expectations and end up with: well what could have been. Sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, right and wrong, did you make a difference?

All these and more can only be retrospective answers. You have to die to answer them. Well at least I know the answer now!
