Hello guys ...

For some reasons, my IE7.0 keeps crashing everytime I click on the "X" button to close the browser. A quick check in the Event Viewer reveals the below:-

Any idea why this happened? Anyway, it only happens when I open my online stocks trading site. Others are ok.

As far as I can make out this looks to be crashing due to attempting to access memory space it shouldn't.

This can be caused by corrupted files, virus or other malware infection or faulty memory modules.

I would perform the following tasks in the order I specify:

1) Virus scan your PC with either nod32 trial or Kaspersky trial if you do not have licenced copies.

2) If the above turns up clean you can re-install IE7. Microsoft has some not altogether clear instructions for doing this at this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917964

3) Replace your memory modules if the above does not fix the issue.

This is highly unlikely LordOflA as I have tested the same process in another machine and the same problem occured.

Basically I have run virus scans on my machine as well but it is clean at the moment so I have to rule out all 3 possibilities below because the same thing occured in anothe machine.

I think it has something to do with IE7.0 because when I tried to run the same website in my office PC using IE6.0, it is working fine.

Access violations only occur for the 3 reasons stated or a bug in the application. As you are the only person I know to mention such an issue I doubt this is a bug.

So one of the following is true:

You have a virus.
You have other malware such as advertising software or spyware installed.
You have some silly toolbar installed.
You have one or more corrupted files
You have a hardware fault.

When you can prove that all of the above are not true let me know
