IE6 Autocomplete Problem

it suddenly stopped working.. I checked settings in options and all necessary options are checked.. if I tell it to save a user name and password it looks like it worked but the next time I try to login to a site it asks me again.. is there a way to fix it? or should I just reinstall IE6?

I haven't installed SP1 yet..

I often see cookies problem when there are too many or they are too old. Go to Tools, Options, and click on "Delete cookies". It would be also a good thing to erase all temporary internet files.

Mine seems to foeget every now & then. You should see if it is a major hassle or just every now & then.

it's constant now.. I deleted all cookies and temp files, rebooted, made sure all options for autocomplete are selected.. still no go.. not sure what happened but I think my machine is due for another clean install..

Before going that far you could try doing a repair of IE.

The best solution I found for cookie/login control is a little proggie called:

PurgeIE: http://www.purgeie.com/

Its very small cost is worth it's weight in gold. You can have the security of saving cookies that are required for login, that are never erased when you do necessary cleaning.

There are many useful features, but I like a ONE CLICK solution, where ALL unwanted cookies, temp files, urls, history, etc., are AXED. You can reset DAT files in IE, when needed. You can get rid of unwanted accumulated files easily & the "good cookies" are safe & sound.
