IE Problem

This just started today :(

Everytime i wanna go to a site and i type in the adress it takes me to the http://search.msn.com site

Its really annoying cos i cant browse the internet without having to search for the page i want... The reason its doing this is when i type the adress and hit enter IE decides to add another adress to the beginning of the URL... so i get as http://Random adress.php?www.ntfs.org/ as the website im trying to get to so it cant recognise the site so takes me to the MSN search site.

Is there somewere in the config that tells it to add this stupid adress cos this is new to me and has me puzzled :(

Thanx :)

You can turn the search feature off.

Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced Tab -> Search from the Address bar -> Select "Do not search from the Address Bar"

I tried that one and all i get after that is a page cannot be displayed page :(

Have you tried to restore IE's default settings by clicking on the "Restore Defaults" button under the advanced tab in case something got checked that shouldn't have?

I'm running late so I can't look this up yet, but this is seen and fixable

stick around and someone will be by to help

also try searching the forums for the same issue

Have you tried Tools/Internet Options/Content/Auto Complete
Clear Forms and uncheck Web Addresses.

this used to happen to me also...you need to download highjack this, post a log, we'll see if we can figure it out

If you download

HiJackThis it will probably say the the Default URLSearchHook is missing and you can reinstall it.
Hijackthis will restore the Windows default URLSearchHook.

same problem

I used to be able to type a keyword in the address bar and it would do a search for it. But now it seems that no matter what I do or change it always adds the "http://" to it. I am posting my Hijack this log and maybe someone can help.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
