IE/Outlook Express DNS Problems

Hi Guys

I've been running XP Home for the past few months without any problems. I have a cable modem and my ISP is Rogers (Toronto, Canada).

The last few days I've been having some issues, IE6 can no longer resolve dns names, and even if I type in the IP address directly it still fails with a dns resolution error.

Outlook Express also seems to be sufferring the same way when it trys to connect to the Yahoo POP server, it just hangs there. If I go into the Command Prompt I can happily nslookup/ping any host out there on the internet, and I can play multiplayer Wolfenstein without any issues.

I've tried doing a ipconfig /renew but to no avail.

Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed !

Thanks

Mat

Hmmmm..

I cant offer to much help on that, but have you double checked your mail settings , Have you called your ISP and asked if anyone else has the same issue ?

Are you on a network, behind a gateway ?

Resolution

Thanks DrX

I actually ended up doing a system restore back from 10 days ago and that seems to have resolved the problem.

I think the file which had been tampered with was:

qrmgr.dll

Maybe the registry also has some issues.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
