IDE Adapter Issue

My Western Digital hard drive recently failed. It is still recognized in BIOS but not accessible. I purchased a Sabrent IDE Adapter, pulled the hard drive from the disabled machine and attempted to recover its contents using another machine. This "external" disk link is recognized on the other machine(s) as a "disk" but it does not show up in Disk Management (or, of course, Windows Explorer). Is there a way to assign it a drive letter if it doesn't show up there? Or is this an indication that the disk is seriously compromised?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
