Hello,

Heres the setup:

Dedicated Windows XP Machine setup as ICS Server with 10/100 NIC 192.168.0.1

Machine 1: 192.168.0.2
Machine 2: 192.168.0.3
Machine 3: 192.168.0.4

Machine 1-3 run on XP too.

Now, Machine 2 and 3 work perfectly however, Machine 1 is having flaws.
I would load a page up, and it will do one of 3 things

1. Not load straight away, wont even try, refresh page and it loads

2. Loads but very slowly

3. Loads partially and does nothing more

I cant think to what this can be.

Could someone please help me out.
Ive disabled the XP server side Firewall, Internet access works fine if i make machine 1 the one with the modem, Ive setup GATEWAY and the Prefered DNS Server 1 to 192.168.0.1
Still no luck.

Thanks

Got exactly the same problem mate. The modem assigned the same IP to my PC and to the other PC that was hosting the ICS, I thought that was the problem but I changed my IP and it's still the same. Sometimes it's fine and sometimes I have to refresh the page 3 or 4 times. :-(

Try changing the DNS server to your actual DNS IPs and not the gateway's IP. Find the public IPs of the DNS servers (the ones for the internet side NIC in the gateway) and add them as the DNS for the clients

Yup, i tried changing the IP with no success in fixing the problem out.

Friends at Dalnet/#windows95 tell me that WindowsXP is the cause of it.

I will be tonight formatting the XP machine and putting 2000 on it
And then set it up with ICS server

I'll let you know about the lluck i have
if good, then atleast we know what it is

cheers

You know what?

I'm using Remote Desktop at the moment and am surfing on one of the client machines, all the pages load up instantly!

Seems to be a specific machine problem in that case

So any input in this?

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
