Somehow my icons got messed up and html files have a jpeg icon and bmp's have and exec. icon.

how can i clean the cache adn bring things back to normal ?

If you have SP1 installed you can use TweakUI from the powertoys set to flush the icon cachce, there is probably a way to do it manually, but not on that I know of

delete this file

C:\Documents and Settings \UserName \Local Settings \Application Data IconCache.db

reboot

No change doing that, anyone ?

Another way of rebuilding the icon cache is this:

Right click desktop - properties - appearence - advanced

change the icon size, let's say from 32 to 33

hit OK and "Apply"

click "advanced" again and change the icon size back to 32

OK and OK
---------

This tiny program does this with a single click, RebIC

.

Icon Cache is tricky - I had some pobs where I would flush the cache and it would go back o normal, others I had to reformat to get it back to normal ...

what you could do it go to folder Options/file types and change them back manually - You did'nt by any chance install Icon Packager or something did you ?

Had that same problem with my mom's 'puter. Do a search on Google for a program called RefreshEm. It fixed my mom's machine.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
