ive recently installed directx 9, but then uninstalled it coz my computer and alot of programs, and games kept crashing. and i installed 8.1. the problem continued, so i reinstalled directx 9, and i still have the problem.
list of things that have crashed:
operation flashpoint
internet explorer
gta3
jedi knight 2
mohaa
basically all my games

my spec
winxp home
256mb ddrram
1.8ghz
geforce 2 gts (driver 40.72 i think)

befor i installed directx 9 i had no problems. if u need any more information just ask. any help appreciated

What did you use to remove directx 9 the first time?
Have you tried a system restore?

I noticed in your specs you have GF 2 with v40.72. Try downgrading to v29.32. If you uninstall GF through the add/remove when you boot XP will load the driver it has. See how that goes. If the problem is gone either stick with it or try 29.32.

mabey drivers 41.09 (DX9 support)

otherwise. pop the xp cd in and repair the instalation

i'll try installing the drivers, and if that dont work, i'll repair the windows installation. is directx 9 worth installing if i get everying working again?

the easiest way to get your old drivers back is to use the Device Manager, and choose "Roll Back Drivers" XP will reinstall the last set of video drivers before you updated them... as for the game problems with DX9... you may have to reinstall the games... so that they make the correct associations with the DX9 files...

baser5nature is right, that would be the easiest way. If that doesn't work try doing a system restore to a while back not just a day or two (of a few weeks if needed). You might loose a lot of you settings and stuff, but it is a lot better then having your games crashing or having to format your hd.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
