Hey guys, i just got my Athlon 64 3500+ off ebay. It was listed online to be the 90nm winchester model, but just by looking at the box, I cant figure out which one i got. Could someone tell me how or what would let me know which model i got. thanks.

There was a tool, can't find it tho :s
IDs AMD chip.s..

Is there any way to tell by just looking at the chip before opening the box, seriel number or anything like that?

I need to know before I open it so if it is the wrong one, i can return it and get my money back.

if it says .13 Micron, that means i got the new castle version, right?

heres the ID number ADA3500DEP4AW

Here is mine :p

The Winchester core uses a 90nm process (Newcastle: 130nm)

Yes it does mate.
Sorry to hear that, but if you got it for a cheaper price... really any reason to moan?
Apparently Winchester will overclock a little better and uses less power

Well I am stuck with Clawhammer :)

.13 Micron = 130nm.. right, if so...

sigh, he sent me the wrong one. Thanks for the help. Really appreciate it.

yeah that is the older version of the processor...do you have socket 939? if so the 90nm performs a little better with less power and better oclocking

Thanks for yo help guys, I have contacted the seller and hes exchanging it for the right one. Sigh, the anticipation of running and overclocking this sucker is killing me... it is definately going to be a big jump from my 1800xp processor =D

hopefully you are getting a decent HSF to aid you in your oc'ing endeavors...

btw do you HAVE to oc?

nah i dont HAVE to, and I probably wont for hte first month or so, I wanna enjoy it as it is for now, then when i feel it getting slow, ill do a lil OCing.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
