How to stop Macromedia Flash advertisement pop-ups?

I use Adshield which does a great job blocking normal image ads; however I can't stop Macromedia Flash ads popping up when I visit sites like The New York Times (the ads regularly popup when viewing a link off the main page; must be registered to go beyond main page...it's free).

I'm guessing there's a setting in IE 6 that could kill these; anyone know what that is? Thanks in advance!

Happy 4th!
